These 5 Omega Watches are Surging Amid 2024 Paris Olympics

These staple models from the leading Olympics timekeeper are experiencing a steady upward trend.

Since the 1930s, Omega has been the official timekeeper of the Olympics and, this year, naturally, the Swiss brand has renewed its vow to support athletic talent.

Whether it’s due to publicity surrounding the games (even before the opening ceremony was held) or because, evidently, consumers these days are more and more likely to look at the watches from a utilitarian standpoint rather than their investment potential, several Omega models have surged in their value on the secondary market. This, of course, only applies to some of the maison’s staple models and not limited-edition pieces (like Speedmaster 47 Professional Moonwatch “Silver Snoopy Award” which has been trending downward for the last 2 years, while still hovering somewhere around 5x of its market value).

Hence, we’ll be focusing on five models from the Olympics favorite watch brand (as seen on the Wristcheck Watch Index) that each could serve as a fine entry point into the world of collecting or even a passion purchase.

Aqua Terra 41 Stainless Steel Green Dial

Omega ref. 220.10.41.21.10.001 has been having a rather turbulent time no matter how you scale the data (whether we trace its performance over the last two years, six, or three months). In May this year, this Aqua Terra variant was hovering around the value of US$ 4,990 before going down. Come July, however, we see the trend rise again to where it is now – at US$ 4,895. Though we might well witness this reference trending up for some time in the future, it will still be a while before it reaches its market value of US$ 6,300.

Seamaster Diver 300M Stainless Steel Green Dial

The stainless steel Seamaster with a green dial is one of the most enduring models from the official timekeeper of the Olympics. As we can see from the data on The Wristcheck Index, the interest in the ref. 210.30.42.20.10.001 surged around late May of this year when it started trading at higher prices. Since then, it’s been peaks and valleys until the model reached the 90-day high in early July at US$ 4,728, which is about 80% of its market value of US$ 5,900.

De Ville 40 Prestige Stainless Steel Silver Dial

Omega ref. 434.13.40.20.02.001 has gone up 3.8% over the past 90 days. It’s worth noting that the model witnessed a bit of a dip in its market value over the past two years before climbing out of the gutter which was the 12-month low of US$ 3,795 on April 24, 2024. Since then, it’s been steadily gaining month on month until reaching the current value of US$ 3,923 as of July 25th, which is less than US$ 1k less than its retail price of US$ 4,600.

Speedmaster Chronoscope 43 Stainless Steel Blue Dial

There was a significant hike in Omega ref. 329.30.43.51.03.001’s price on the pre-owned market in January 2024. Since then, although the model did experience its share of turbulence, it never reached the bottom line of the year before. On July 25th, this variant of the Speedmaster Chronoscope reached its 90-day high of US$ 7,662, which followed a series of highs and lows, with the peaks always happening around US$ 7,600 and valleys at US$ 7,500. While the model is most certainly appreciating (not without certain growth pains), it still finds itself well below the retail price of US$ 9,500.

Seamaster Diver 300M Stainless Steel White Dial

Another Seamaster Diver in this lineup – the ref. 210.32.42.20.04.001 – has been exhibiting a rather steady performance over the past two weeks, somewhere around US$ 4,565. Exactly a year ago, the model was trading at US$ 4,750 before plummeting down and hitting the 12-month low of US$ 4,464 in May earlier this year. Over the past three months, however, this variant of Omega Seamaster had a bit of a growth spurt, which took it to the price it traded at as of July 25th, 2024.
